I don't know exactly the best place to post this to get the best help, but I am having trouble with purchasing aquarium stands. I was wondering what any of you used for your 20 gallon aquarium.

The one I recently purchased was the Petco Newport 20 Gallon Wooden Stand

However the part where the tank goes was slightly bowed. I was wondering if anyone else had a better experience with this type and if I should try again or get a different type.

Its ok if its slightly bowed. If your very cautious about the setup I recommend getting some stayerfoam  and place it under the tank to keep the pressure point even.
I built a stand just for my 20 gal. Very sturdy and only cost me $7! lol Its an I sore. But I a, to lazy to design one in google sketch.

Oh that's a good idea actually. Maybe I will do that then. How thick of Styrofoam should it be? I was mostly worried because my tank had a chip in it so I thought the bowed stand would put more pressure on that chipped spot. Thank you for the advice! Any recommendation on where to buy styrofoam?

I've put tanks up to forty gallons just on my furniture with great success. Once you get to 48 inches, it seems that it is time for a stand, but I've had mine on dressers, desks, tables, etc. If you really want to build a stand, which is often far cheaper than purchasing one, I suggest you follow the guidelines for the models in this guy's youtube channel.

Sorry for the horrible grammar. I was typing on my phone. I believe you can buy some at your local hardware such as lowes or HD. Considering your in the US

Thank you for the suggestions attibones. I have used furniture for my ten gallons but I figured 20 gallons would be too much to ask of non-fish tank stands haha. So that is good to take into account!

And it's ok about the grammar Xzavier247, typing a lot on cell phones is always a difficult task. I will go check out home depot. How thick of styrofoam should I look for?

If the stand was bowed with the center of the stand being higher than the edges, would the styrofoam still help? I didn't realize bowed would also mean the opposite, with the edges higher than the middle. I guess I am having a hard time seeing how putting styrofoam on it would make it level. I figured that styrofoam would bend with the stand. I guess if it's a slight bow it wouldn't though. I just bought a new stand online so let's hope this one isn't bowed at all :/

They styrofoam will help even out the pressure regardless. But if its horribly bowed then a new top maybe required. I believe 3/4 or thinner
