Livestock/Equipment make-model-size/Wanted/Exchange/Plants: 2 yellow apple snails
Age and condition: bought them a few weeks ago? About the size of a brussel
Quantity for sale: 2
Reason for Sale: This isn't good sales patter, but they poo for England, they aren't that hot on clearing up algae and now they're eating my betta's indian almond leaf. They've got to go!
Delivery or Collection: Either
Sales price: free-have 'em, please!
Postage & Packaging: At cost, a few quid maybe. Not sure how to package for transit-will take advice before posting.
Location: (Also please put this in the Topic Descripton line of the thread title) mansfield Notts
Photograph: Will take one tonight.

I am interested pending photos :D

The best way to post them is get a seafood style pot (like the ones you get cockles in) and fill it with filter floss. Wet it thoroughly and add the snails and cover them in more wet floss. Put the tub in a cardboard box with shredded newspaper, seal, address and send :D 'This way up' arrows often help as does 'fragile' written somewhere on the box too :D

yeh they can last a good while out of the water!
Im not really needing a picture, I would have taken them no matter what they looked like :)

Aww bummer! Ive been dying for apple snails just had no money, I would love just 1, but it appears there gone, let me know please!

OK guys, will post pics tonight.

Actually, there is this one of them from underneath http://www.flickr.com/photos/22351913@N07/3706870607/

And here's one when it first went in the tank, showing the amount of poo it can produce in one sitting! Could I safely takem one out of the water for a minute to take a picture?

Don't worry...I'll have them :D I'll pm you my addy etc :D

PS that poop is nothing compared to my goldies! That's who they'll be living with so I am not worried

Jasmine, keep your eyes on the snailshop.co.uk. They often have applesnails of all sorts of different colours :D

I may be able to help you if they have gone. I sent some to guppy77 recently. I have approx 150 babies at the mo.

PS sorry for butting in on the thread.

just like to say a big thankyou to Littlemonkey for the apple snails. they are doing great and growing allready.

little monkey, that would be absolutely amazing!
wow, are they free?
I'd just like 2 ?:)
Yep free to peeps on TFF 2 would be fine, I have dark ones and golden ones, send me your address and I'll send you a couple foc. if you have a preference just let me know.

Can they live with goldies?
i thought they can only live in a tropical tank
Mine do rather happily. If they are in cooler water (22-23 degrees for my tanks) they poop slightly less and live longer than they would in warmer water :D The optimal temps for applesnails is 18 to 28°C (65-82°F). They are cold blooded creatures after all :D

It's so nice to see fellow fishkeepers helping each other out like this! :D

If mine ever breed (they're at it often enough) successfully then I will be doing the same :D
