2 weeks ago today 10 fish died over night. i posted a topic on here to see if any one knew what the problem was and there was no clear answer.

tonight, i have similar symptons to 2 weeks ago, my cories and plecos are going up to the surface more then normal for air and the blue ram is floating above the bottom under the plants

i installed a new filter 2 days ago but transfered all my old media to it. it is more powerful then the old one and the spray bar is aimed at the surface causing alot of aggitation

the only new thing is the ram which went in today but was fine up until an hour or 2 ago

the water is slightly coludy, not sure if it is a bacterical bloom

i have nutrifin co2 which i think pumped some yeast into the water whilst i was getting the ram so i did a 40% wc before i added the ram.

does this sound like anything? what can i do

if the same as what happened two weeks ago re occurs, i would strip the tank down and bleach everything including plants in a 19 part water 1 part bleach solution.

any physical illness signs?

when yo did a WC did you use the warm tap? do you have an airing cupboard with tank? is there anyway in which your water can be contaminated?

no pysical signs
only use cold tap
i do have an airing cupboard
dont see anyway in which water can be contaminated

i have a spare tank, only 20l though, should i move them?

will raising the temp help?

i would ring the water board and ask them to see if there is any way in which they can check for contamination .

i have they said nothing had changed and the water is fine

i have changed my other tank today with water from the same tap and have had no problem

found a dead cory this morning so i decided to take all the fish out and put them in a 30l tank. (my puffer tank)

i will bleach everything today, shall i take the sand out to bleach it?

and when i have done it do i wash everything in fresh water?

thanks

ditch the sand and buy new. make a 19 part water 1 part bleach solution

ok

i was then thinking about starting a fishless cycle in it with whole new media before i add all of the saved fish

is this a good idea?

yeah i think i might

how long after i bleach the tank could i introduce the rescued fish? obviously i would need to get some sand first

ok so basicaly fish in cycle but with some media from a different tank so there shouldnt be any ammonia

would it be ok to add sand later on with the fish still in there?
