2 Quick Questions

Hi,
In the future (at least a month away) we will be looking at getting a Bristlenose Plec, however we are unsure of two things they are

1. We will have 19fish in our tank they will be
7 Platys
6 Xray Tetra (Pristella Tetra)
6 Harlequin Rasboras

The question is will we have enough room for a BNP, oh and we have dorset pea gravel as a substrate.

2. With having the above substrate can we still get real plants and if so what ones would be better for begginers, that wont need too much attention/light wattage?

Assuming the tank is the 125L Fluval you have in your sig, yes its fine for a BN plec.

The pea gravel is fine for the plec and plants, easy ones for beginners are Vallisneria, Cabomba, hygrophilia sp, Java fern and moss.

Cool Thank you! Also how many plants will I be able to have without needing Co2 and higher wattage lights, I think my current lights 20watts and I have 2 tubes, so 40watts in total.

you will be fine adding the bn plec in 4-6 weeks mike with the 19 fish
but then leave it a good 6 months before you consider adding anything else
once the tank is well established you could add more filtering and increase the numbers of fish if you wish - going up to 2 " per gallon

6 months will give the tank enough time to become well established and you a good amount of fish keeping experience
just remember regular weekly water changes via gravel vac

mike you seen my tanks i have no c02 and standard lights (60w in the rio 180) so you should be ok

let me know when you are introducing the plants and i'll sort you out some cuttings FOC
dont forget if you want the shrimp in future they're 75p each

Ah right lol, dont think I will be going for quite as many plants as yourself : ) lol!

I doubt I will be adding anymore fish after the BNP tbh.

How often and how much do you need to feed the plants?
