Hello, i have two question for you guys:

1- Will a UV light kill benefical bacteria?
2- What do you need for a quarantine tank? and which water do you use when you want to quarantine fish?

1) Dont think so

2) All you need is a small clean tank, same equipment as your main tank and fresh clean water. Make sure its cycled :)

aslong as the temperature and stats are the same (ie both are fully cycled and set to the same temp), should be fine to use fresh water :)

awsome do you mind if i ask you another question, it has nothing to do with the topic, but can you find me a link that talk about filters ive been searching the forums but cannot find it, i want to know because ive been reading and some people say that they do not use filter media that contains carbon, my media has carbon, and i have a planted tank, not many plants at the moments, cuz im cycling my tank.

Carbon is best not used all the time,
after treating with Medicines is mainly the only time you would need to use carbon as it helps remove the chemicals,
the main reason not to keep it in there for to long also is because it soaks up all the toxins and when saturated with (bad crud) it will start to leach out eventually.

I believe the use of carbon in a planted tank is not recommended because of if will remove the chemicals added to help plant growth.

check planted section if you want to know about the chemicals.

Hope that helps somewhat

P.s I believe its 6weeks or so untill carbon should be removes. (might be wrong)

yeah i have to wait for the cycle, so can i use the same media but without the carbon?

If you have just put the carbon in recently take it out and save it for a rainy day.
once medication is used etc.... (put it in when time to remove it all is due.)

i have those media that you assemble yourself, the only thing i dont put its the carbon right?
