2 Platty Fish died after giving birth to fry!

Hey, friends. This is my first post. We began the hobby of tropical fish a month ago. A strange thing has happened twice: a female Platty died , then we found there were Platty fry newly born. We were thinking perhaps bearing fry causes death, but nothing I read on your forum seemed to say such a thing. In fact, it said they give birth every 3 to 4 weeks! Is this just a weird coincidence?

Same thing happened to two of my female platties. Apparently they are very weak after giving birth. Make sure your water conditions are good, that the fish aren't being harrassed, that they aren't being handled too often, and that they aren't kept in small quarters for long periods of time.
