i bought 3 bolivian rams the other day for £12 (that was the deal) anyway 2 of them have paired off and the 1 which is a female that is left over is chasing the pair off, why is she doing this?
and should i buy another male and hope that it pairs off with the remaining female?

thnx in advance :D

hey

i don't really know why she would be chasing the pair, but you could go and get another male for her or you could take her back.....

is she attacking them? or keeping them in a certain area etc....

she hides in her cave and if they swim off she darts out in front of them and they swim the other way.
they haven't been attacking each other just flaring.

whats going on?
could it be jealousy?

i duno what's going on with that are you sure it's a female it maybe a male......

are you planning on breeding them?

if you are i would go with just 1 pair but that's me personally.

you could try to move her cave but i'm not sure if that would effect the behaviour too much.

ok thnx jay jay, i doubt i will get another male for her, they dont really bother each other, just warnings, if aggression starts ill take her back :/

ok hope all goes well with the rams

you could add more caves duno if it would help, it might be territory disputes

sorry sam, i did read but forgot to reply  will keep an eye on my posts next time
another thing is before i went to bed last night around 11, i checked the temp it was at 78 and checked the fish and they were ok i turned the light off and got up about an hour later to get a drink, had a quick look in the tank and thought my rams were nearlly dead i turned their light back on and about 20secs after they started swimming around, i thought for sure they were nearlly dead :(

were they sleeping? or was their another reason?

well you can't really class it as sleeping. no eye lids . lol :)

my chiclids all seem really lazy they lie on their side in their own little spots around the tank at night.

it's nothing to worry about. it's just them resting at night.

hope that helps :good:

are they in a cave together, the pair?

you might have some little babies on the way

keep us updated :good: on how it goes

no problem.

i meant to add, the more space the rams have the more aggressive they seem to get.

i had my 2 males in a 20G tank and they got along fine, as soon as they moved to my 80G and they had space to themselves they got more aggressive.

i think aslong as you keep an eye on yours theyll be fine tho.
