2 filters

I was just wondering if its worth adding a nother filter to my tank its fine at the moment but would the fish appreshiate another filter

Hi,

any additional filtration is never a bad thing (so long as you don't turn your tank into a raging torrent of water!!)

what size tank do you have and what filter do you have running?

I use 2 filters in my 15g, as I have a tendancy to over stock. But to be honest I would'nt recommend any newbie to over stock even with 2 filters.

Adding another filter is fine, but it does not mean you have to do less water changes, and should not be used for that reason. If anything it can double you work as you have 2 sponge's to sqeaz eact week instead of one.

Maybe a dozy question but do I need to clean the filter each week? I understand that you need to use established aquarium water, but I am interested as my tank has just started cycling and I feel happy to leave well alone for a few days to let everthing settle. (WE have had a crisis because we hadn't heard of fishless cycling until we came on here ) ) Everything is now fine and the tank is cycling but I am reluctant to start messing about with filters etc. The filter is pretty gopping mind! Just a quick rinse?

I have a duo deep 1200 which holds about 210 liters and i have the filter that came with it from pets at home.

I personaly would leave your filter till it has cycled completely.

i've rinsed out my sponge once in 4 months.
I just do it if i feel the filter is clogging

i use two filters in my tank and its much better because it can only make your tank cleaner
