Yikes! Glad I came over to coldwater from the tropical section
My son was sold 6 fancy goldfish of different descriptions and a 15 litre plastic tank about 6 months ago. Well you can imagine they got pretty sick very quickly so we went out and bought a 96 litre tank and put two fluval 2 filters in there.
We lost 2 black moors, a shubunkin and a fantail goldfish in 2 weeks as we were complete newbies and didn't find out about cycling etc. We finally got the tank cycled with mega constant water changes and then stupidly went out and replaced the lost fish as we still hadn't found out about stocking levels and of course the lfs said it would be fine as the water was now ok!
So we are now 4 months down the line and the fish are getting bigger and bigger. I was alerted to the fact that the tank is overcrowded from a post on tropicals about someone keeping a Goldfish in a small bowl.
Question is, how many can I realistically keep in the tank? We have an uncle with a pond that says he can take some of the fish. I'm thinking we could keep 2 of them
We have 2 red chinese goldfish (2.5 inches), 1 bog standard goldfish (2.5 inches), 1 shubnkin (2.5 inches) 2 Sarsa comets (3.5 inches & 2.5 inches) All sizes are without tails. Also should this be done ASAP or do I have any time to prep my son over choosing which fish to keep
