My wife just came home yesterday with 2 african cichlids! Well i didnt want to get any until we get another tank the lfs told here they would be fine in a 20 gal. well they are already 4inches long and have room for now but dont know how much bigger they will get. I have Identified the 1 as a male peacock(egg lookin things on bottom tail, its mostly yellow with blue gills like a sunfish and a lil red in his body) now the other 1 sorta looks like a female, its purplish brown but its eyes are smaller and its mouth looks more like a oscars mouth to me. Now would it be ok to put these in my big tank if i took some other fish out and put them in small tank? What fish will they eat(they dont seem aggressive to me) I read that they would be ok with tiger barbs and sharks but im am really worried about my ghostknife would it be ok with the cichlids? Thanks for any help guys

sorry my digi is dead gotta get new 1, but all the fish in the 70 gal is on my sig, These ciclids are both at least 3 1/2 to 4 inches long and pretty fat i think they would look lovely in my community tank but my ghostknife is a $20 fish and besides that i love him and the others to just wondering if i can do it? I know most of the fish in my community are semi aggressive so i thought it might work? Sorry for the bad spelling.

trying to help you.

will a purple fish go with a bgk? okay their colors will match. depending on what the purple fish is, depends on the compatibilty. just cause it is 3-4" now does not mean it will grow to be 8-10". if you have doubts, don't put the fish together. i have never kept a bgk, but have heard that they can be quite nasty. they are nocturnal. so they feed at night. could be that your fish become a midnight snack.

need pictures to do a correct identification on the fish though. peacock has been confused with morphs. color morphs are a mixture of colors on the fish. could possibly not be a peacock but a color morph.

i know for a fact the bgk will not hurt them(there peacock ciclids im 100 percent sure for the one male and about 80 percent the other is female) im just worried about them hurtin the bgk
