2 Bettas In 5 Gal

i got a divider and its clear so both guys are flaring at each other like crazy
i was recomended to use canvas but i dont have any lying around what about cotton?
like an old white t shirt that isnt stained

Are you trying to make another divider so they can't see each other sometimes? I wouldn't recommend the cotton shirt because if there is any amount of residual detergent it will make your bettas ill. Unfortunately I wouldn't recommend a new shirt either, since you don't know if it gets washed or anything during production.

On the other hand, that plastic canvas (needlepoint canvas) is very cheap. One sheet usually runs about a quarter and it's a decent size. My boyfriend made one out of plexiglass that he scuffed up with fine sandpaper, and that works well, but cutting plexiglass is a pain (and it isn't very cheap). I would say go for the canvas. If the divider is plexi all you have to do is sand it to make it cloudy. The canvas people are using is plastic needlepoint canvas that comes in sheets. Even with the canvas I have one fish that flares if he sees a shadow move on the opposite side, I am trying to turn it into a moss wall.
