Description:

2.67 gallon Tank (weird shape, slightly taller than wider, but not the minibow design)
Elite internal filter
gravel/decorations

no heater

What fish would fit? We already have a betta, we want some other things for it too.

Hmm, seeing as you already have a betta, that limits the things you can have in it. Maybe, correct me if wrong, adding anything more will overstock it.

well i know somebody who has kept a betta with a corycatfish in a 1 gallon for a year and a half and they had no problems...

With the Betta, Nothing else can go in it's already overstocked with the single Betta they like about 5G.
Without the Betta, A Betta lol

not much else can go in...depending on your bettas temperment i would say some cheap shrimp.

maybe you could have a mystery snail (ha)

but really...what about a vampire shrimp or something? they get bigger than bettas can eat

Hey, I had a 2 Gallon and wanted to add more fish. But unfortunately, it was not nearly enough... I had 2 goldfish die in a month, and the ammonia levels were so high with a few tetras, that I couldn't stand to see them die too, so I got a bigger tank. I don't know about tanks where you live, but where I am (Toronto), you can probably get a 10 gallon set up for 100 or so bucks. I did 20 gallons, it was about 200 after all the weeds, wood, gravel, filter, hood, fish, etc... Don't know if you can afford a bigger tank or not, but if you can, it would be best if you want to add more fish. I bit the bullet and worked some overtime to get mine, and I am so happy I did :)

I may put a betta in my 2 gallon, and see how he makes out, but gotta see. may do 1 or 2 small fish. doing that for my mom. Not yet, I need more info on what is ok in a 2 gallon tank lol. :) I am new, and the people here are so helpful!! Hope I am too! LOL

Good Luck with your tank(s)!! =)

And how did they decide there were no problems? That's a short lifespan for the fish, though since many bettas are already full grown when sold, that's more reasonable than it is for the cory. I see this said a lot when it's more likely that either signs of trouble aren't being recognized or are being misinterpreted, or that the fish are too stressed to kill each other. Extreme cases have even included descriptions of definite bad signs as proof that fish are alright.

For that example, both fish should be active and inquisitive, the cory especially should be constantly on the move, and the betta should be interactive.

A big no-no, they get waaay too large for that tank to support and if you want to feed them properly you really need either a mature planted tank and/or to target feed with fine food like crushed flake or special invertabrate food.
