I have recently gotten a new betta, he is in a 2.5 gallon tank. he looks happy but after some reasearch i am woundering if 2.5 gallons is enough for one fish.he dosent hvae any tankmates so the he has the 2.5 all to himself. he also has decorations but they dont take up much room. still IS IT ENOUGH???????

Moved this to the betta section, you may get better answers in here. I'm aware that it's a highly debated point.

i know, i just want to know whats best for my fish, especially because im kinda new at this

2.5 gallons is, in my opinion, too small. 5 gallons (whilst still being small) is just big enough. Seeing as you're new----
1.Do you have a filter?
2.Did you cycle the tank?
3.Do you use a dechlorinator when adding tap water?

yes i have a declorinator and a filter, the tank is a 2.5 betta bow, and i dont know what you mean as far a cycling

Cycling is when you build up beneficial bacteria in the filter. The bacteria converts ammonia (which is produced by fish waste and fish food) into harmfull nitrate. This is an essential part of maintaining a healthy aquarium. You must do it. Have a look at "how to do a fish in cycle" in the beginners resource centre My link:good:

also if 2.5 gallons is small, then how do i stop him from being bored and/or stressed in his little tank?

What plant's/ decorations are already in there? Because of the size you don't want to clutter it up too much.
Please don't brush of the comment about a cycle. It's very important

just about to get an amonia and nitrate dectector kit, and in his tank there are stones/pebbles, coral thing with a good size hole in it so he can swin in and out and two plants plus a littlekelp hammok thing

it dosent look to clutered, oh ya and i forgot , a small thermometer , the test kit im gonna get should i get a dip test or.............

opps i alredy got the strips, but the woman at the store said thet they are just as effective, will they work???????
