Hey everyone,

I use to have a freshwater setup years ago. I got rid of it because I move around a lot. I was never in one place, let alone one timezone for more then 6 months. BUT I've been thinking about setting up a simple easy to maintain saltwater tank. I don't want any corals. Im thinking of something in the 30-55 gallon range. I have an old emperor 400, and lighting. As far as equipment needed, I have no idea. SO help would be greatly appreciated!

:hi: to TFF and the salty side of both the hobby and the forum.

Thats a nice sized tank to start off with :good:

My first tip would be read up a few journels of tanks the same size - take lots of notes and ask us lots of questions, but the basics are:

Live rock - the heart and lungs of your tank
heat and flow - to keep everything alive - powerheads x 20 turnover with no corals
Choose how you are going to get your salt water - make your own or buy
test kits or get lfs to test
refractometer to test sg of water
lights suitable for your stocking - no corals, t8 will be fine
skimmer - removes organics from the water - buy the best you can afford or go really cheap and save up

few starters for you :good:
