I have an 18" long 27l tank which I would like to set up primarily as a planted tank, with some sort of fish added later on.
It is just the bare tank, so I can buy all the bits to suit a planted setup. It's a clearseal tank, with the small glass ledges at the top. I'd like to get a piece of glass cut to rest on there and use that as the lid. So, if I could get some advice and suggestions on the following, that would be great
*Filter-any tips on a suitable model? I've read that planted tanks need a high turnover, min.10x, so I need at least 300lph.
*Heater I presume is straightforward? What temp should I keep it at until I put fish in?
*Light-if I go for the glass lid, this would have to be clip-on, something like this. Would that be suitable? Reading the guide, 2wpg means I should be looking at about 15w?
*CO[sub]2[/sub]-this is where I'm completely lost. I've had a look at the various types available. I'm thinking a yeast based one for this size tank?
I have my reservations about this because at work we often have to get yeast bubbling for school experiments and I find it very unpredictable and sometimes I just can't get it going at all. So, are they easy and straightforward to use?
Once I have this kit in place (have I covered everything?) I'll be back to ask about plants and substrate
