Sorry for your loss fishkeeper35. Losing fish is unfortunately a part of the hobby, it happens to everyone. One thing to understand (as I know you may already) is that many species (the majority in fact) other than humans, are not only tightly married to their environment, but are also not genetically programmed to devote large species-shared energy to the successful raising of individual infants in the way that the human species is.

The genetically run species life pattern for minnow type species like danios is to scatter extremely large numbers of eggs, leading to large numbers of individuals and to "expect" (in a genetic sense, though of course there is no such thing as expectation there) relatively large numbers of individuals to fail.

We, as humans, can't help but sometimes having a hard time accepting that since we put so much life effort into each individual of our offspring. It's particularly hard sometimes to understand, for instance, the species retention of protein, when eggs or fry are eaten by the parents, but this is the same thing of this genetic difference.

Anyway I don't mean to go off on some boring science stuff but this is what in the past has helped me understand an aspect of some of the losses I've had of fish that I've greatly enjoyed watching and am sad about losing. I hope it helps in some tiny way.
