19l / 5g (us) Tank

I am going to be picking up a 19L tank at the end of the week. I intend to house a male fighter. I'm thinking the only other things i could add would be shrimps, or would that be pushing it as well? What does everyone else think?

You could throw in an apple snail - they are very neat animals - entertaining as well.

Had considered apple snails. It's a possibility. Had an interest in shrimps for a while though, so i might go that way..

In a 5gal tank... A betta, 5~ shrimp, and an apple snail can live comfortably, granted your betta doesn't fancy a shrimp-snack once in a while .


Or, you can go for a betta and 3-5 Otos.

That's what I was thinking, but they might be ok.

According to some people otos would be too small for a 5 gallon, but I think it would be ok, I had 3 otos in my old 5g and they were fine.

Otos grow to be about 1-1.5 inches, they are also very light waste produces, so having 3 or so in with a betta in a 5gal tank would work out just fine.
