180 Gallon Tank

Alright so I picked this up today, and got a lot of stuff to do tomorrow, but today I'm fixing all the broken plastic with silicone and painted the back of tank. Tomorrow I have to clean 150 pounds of pool filter sand and take down a 75 gallon and 55 gallon tank. Then move all the fish into a 27 gallon tub with an air stone, then put all the decorations somewhere until the 180 is in place o yea it's gonna be really tricky to get into the house as well haha. So yea finally got my dream tank in my room, hope you enjoy!

So just got the tank in the garage! Sorry for the mess


I painted the back ground blue with spray paint, it got all over my hands and on the floor and in my face haha


I got a used Fluval fx5, hoping it works, I haven't tested yet but it's also pre cycled I believe it has been sitting with water in it for a week so idk how much is left alive, certainly smells groody.

Yea it's certainly a monster haha, it's going to be somewhat planted aswell. I was gonna mix some black sand with the pool filter sand do you guys think that would ruin the look, is the all white sand good to match the blue back ground?

I'm thinking of adding a Super Red Spot Severum and some angelfish, to my BGK, 2 nandus nandus, 2 geophagus jurupari and 2 bichirs. Any other additions anyone think I an add? I'm also thinking more geophagus and bichirs.

It should match the background fine. You definitely want some black sand in there I think or your bichirs are going to look washed out. Grats on the new tank Can't wait to see some updates!

well add  more the more the merrier. more geophagus is the trick. they like to shoal. Be wary of what bichirs you get you might end up having one less bichir.
 
a pair of severums is a way to go though. they do like to go about in pairs

I know they are gregarious but at the moment my big jurupari jack is being a dingis and being mean to the other I hope in the new tank they'll be ok, and with the bichirs all I have to worry about is getting ones that are big enough.

So I held the big guys in here, a 27 gallon tub, my nandus kept jumping out so I put a towel on top.

Ok filled up and ready for fish I'll get some photos of them later their all in there now, feels really empty lol and my BGK looks so tiny haha


My Fluval fx5 was switching on and off but it appears fine now, it's a little cloudy hoping it will get better though. This is my try on a little planted tank with an isle of plant gravel lol lets see how long it holds shape with the geophagus in there.

All the pics of the geos are of jack, hes just more mature and therefore better lucking lol he never stops moving so their like all blurry lol

Thanks ninj! Yea its a lot clearer now, and the sand reminds me of cookies and cream ice cream haha i didnt put that much black sand in anyways and didnt mix up as much as i wanted to.
