Hi!
I'v been thinking of getting my hands on a 180 gallon tank from a llooonnnggg time. Finally I got good deal for a tank recently, but before I do anything I want to figure out whether I can handle this, so I'm doing some planning these days. My question is will a RENA Filstar XP 3 do justice for the filtration?
I havn't thought much about the stocking but an arowana is a must for this tank.

RENA Filstar XP 4 : http://www.bigalsonline.com/BigAlsUS/ctl36...3canisterfilter

Rena EXP does upto 175 gallons, I'd go to the next step and get the XP4 or, go out and get a fluval FX5 (up to 300gallons filtration ^_^)

I'm low on my budjet that's why FX5 is not one of my choices. FX5 is around $300 CND (or may be more). M..yes, XP4 would be the better choice. Thanks!

No problem, and I live in canada, depends on where you go to get the FX5, $399.99 at Petsmart, $369.99 at big als.

What kind of arowana were you thinking of? With a 180 you are limited really to an Asian or jardini as the south american species get too large for a 180.

IMO an XP3 is not large enough to filter a 180, i would use two of them with one inlet at each end.

Perhaps you'll want to bare that in mind more before starting a large expensive project :) would be silly to start somthing and only do it half right.

hehe..I'm not that low! I do understand a 180 is a big project that's why I'm going a little bit slow on this one. But thanks for the advice.

Yes, I am aware a silver wont fit into that so I'm thinking of an asian or jardini, as you said.
