ok i've got myself an 18" cube tank that holds 21 gallons(25.5 US) and i'm looking for some stocking ideas.

all i have at the minute is bettas and rift lake tanks so i'm looking to step away from those and do something different. obvioulsy the tank being only 18" long limits my fish choice some what to the smaller or very inactive.

the tank will be filtered by either an eheim classic 2211 or a 2215 depending on what fish i eventually decide upon and lit by an arcadia T8 luminaire which has two bulbs in it. im not looking to go the high tech planted root i have been there done that and hated it!. i don't want to go marine or brackish either they bring there own problems!

so i'm hoping that some of the fine people on this board can throw some good ideas at me and give me something to work with i'm open to any and all things that i havn't already ruled out. :good:

How about an apisto or ram tank? A central piece of bogwood with plants attatched and a pair (or trio if apisto) of fish with some tetras.

Dwarf puffers?
Dwarf pike cichlids (only 1 or max a pair I would think due to aggression)
Prehistoric Monster fish (quite expensive and hard to get off live food)
SA leaf fish (also hard to get off live food)

Just some unusual fish I thougth of - mainly came from anti-tankbusters in oddball section.

i've been down the normal tropical route before, ive had dwarf puffer and leaf fish. i've had rams and apisto before as well.

prehistoric monster fish intrigue me but dont they get 10" long?

Not always the case, you can now buy Leaf fish that are already on dead foods. Prehistoric Monster fish, that's kinda wooly, there are loads of different species.
