15g Stocking Ideas

LOL dont worry about it!

So what do you think of:

5 x harlequins
5 x dwarf rasbora
5 x small cories
+ plenty of plants + sand substrate

When you say small cories - do you mean the dwarf ones (like pygmaeus and habrosus) or the in betweenies (like pandas and metaes)?

sounds good to me :good:

i'm not a cory expert by any stretch of the imagination so i'm not sure exact sizes of those, just know some stay small at around 1" and others can get up to 3/4" i just meant some around 1"

but tbh you can push stocking a little bit with a good distribution of fish around the levels of the tank and good filtration so i'd think any cories up to 1.5" or so would be fine

I think the kuhlie loach - a trio would be good. If I remember correctly they would do okay in a 15G. Or you could try some ottos. Or ghost shrimp just for fun. Possibly some snails, a dwarf frog? Endless possibilities!!
Check out some of the smaller loaches and see what you think!

yeah khulie loaches could work, ottos are sort of bottom type fish! adf's but you have to be careful feeding, they often starve to death cos they're outcompeted for food by the other fish, a BN plec (or any other plec that stays equally small... your field of expertise not mine though!), if you go for only small fish 1-1.5" long then you could get a load of amano shrimp (anything bigger with them would be too threatening and you'd rarely ever see them), pgymy chain loaches are sweet.... ummmm i'll try and tink of some more but there are loads of options

Or you could go a bit more extreme and get maybe 8-10 pygmy corys and 8-10 dwarf rasboras. 2 nice shoals :) Pygmy corys are (in my recent experience) even more hyperactive than other corys, so lovable

Ooh, and don't udnerestimate amanos. I have 5 in a 300 Litre tank along with 4" Pearl Gouramis and 2.5" Platys and they steal the food from the fish.... Even the plecs if they can beat them there, lol.

Just thought I'd mention that Wholesale Tropicals in Bethnal Green are also doing online delivery these days and they usually have a very good selection of small fish, including small unusual rasboras. I've been thinking of some dwarf danios (nigrofasciatus) for my 70 ltrs, seeing that my water params rule out any of the attractive rasboras they have on offer.

LisaLQ: hi, i also come from around the keighley area and i know of a good aquatic shop called "fish people" its address is, 37 aireworth road, keighley BD21 4DN or "www.fish-people.com" when i was starting out thay gave me lots of imformation about the different fish i could keep and they know what they are talking about.make sure you ask the owners, their the old ones, as they have some young adults that dont know squat.in my 15 gallon i have 3 platies,4 cardinal tetra, 2 sucking loach(excellent bottom dwellers), 2 amano shrimp, 1 betta and 2 ADF'S, my betta was aggressive so i devided the tank and my betta and the 2 ADF'S have 4 gallon while the rest enjoy the 11 gallon.works perfectly. other good petshops are bradford, pet city, workers dont know much but have a good selection of stock.splash aquatics in skipton, 29 keighley road has some nice fish too.

You know that rather crap LFS I was on about. It was Fish People.

BTW - did they sell you those sucking loaches? They get to 10-12", and when they hit 4", they'll start attacking all your other fish. I know. They sold us a couple too lol.

Might have to have a trip over to Skipton some time. Good recommendation for you though - Pet City in Leeds, near the Corn Exchange - my sis has been there, and many online folks I know, and it's really really good.

*Edited out a lot of ranting*
