For the nano tank that i get (not really sure whats happening at the moment) i am going to get some 150w MH lights.
Do you think i should get a 150w 14000k bulb, or a 20000k bulb?
What would the advantages or disadvantgaes?

Thanks, Mikey

I would get a 14k because I think it provides the best comprimise between PAR (photosynthetic available radiation) for zooxanthellae and phosphoresence of colors :)

The visual colour from your MH globe will also be affected, and thats just down to plain personal choice. MIght pay to google a few terms and see what you prefer. You could also get a whiter light and suplement with actinics.

Thanks for the replys.
Im going to bid on one today (unless it has gone up too much) and then get a 14k bulb for it i expect. Dont 14k bulbs get corals to grow best, or is that 10k?

Mikey

Its totally dependant upon the coral. Some like 10 some prefer 14, still others prefer 6.7 or even 20. There's no rule of thumb other than to ask the previous owner of the coral if its a frag or try it under a bunh of different color temps

Ok then cool.

Ill try 14k i think

Thanks, Mikey
