ok so im getting a 14 gallon tank and i think ive finally found what combination im going to do

currently i have a 5g w a molly 2 guppies and a oto cat so they will be moving in, but the total fish will be

1 molly
2 guppies
3 otos
4-5 silver tip tetra, or some sort of schooling fish (maybe even galaxy rasbora if i can get my hands on them!)
2-3 zebra danios ( these are still a maybe
1 small angelfish, or another centerpiece fish ( ANY IDEAS?)
and a few shrimp

and yes , i know i will have to add the otos one the tank starts producing algae

what are your thoughts

Hmmmm, 14 gallons. Make sure you do a fishless cycle before you add fish!

Molly should be fine (thogh it may get lonely)
2 guppies. Make sure you get 2 males or 2 females. if you get one male and one female, the male will drive the female insane chasing her all the time.
otos : should be fine but id skip the danios so you can get at least 3 otos. (5 would be brilliant)
small school of tetras: should be great depending on what species.
danios - i wouldnt suggest danios for your tank, they are very active hyper fish and need a lot of room. at the bare minimum they need a 2 foot, 20 gallon tank.
angelfish: no way, unelss you do all angels, a single small gourami might be a nice centerpiece fish for you, such as a sparkling gourami?
shrimp - cool!

just my opinion though!

Just a note about the galaxy rasbora: they are under threat in the wild, so if you buy them it should really be with a view to setting up a breeding tank.
There are other tiny rasboras with lovely colours, however these tend to do best in soft acid water, while your molly will want hard alkaline water. Anyway, I wouldn't keep anything too tiny in the 14 gallon: mollies can be greedy guts! Harlequin rasboras are a better size from that point of view.
The problem with dwarf gouramis is twofold: they are more often than not carriers of an incurable virus and they can have a very uncertain temperament being either aggressive or excessively timid. But discuslova is right; the angelfish would outgrow your tank, you need to be looking at a smaller centrepiece- unless you are happy to let the molly be your centrepiece.

Silver Tip Tetras are very hardy and nice, they were my first fish I bought 6, 2+ years later and a LOADS of problems (unexplained deaths, Guppy wipeout, White Spot to name a few) I have 3 left and they look very healthy much healthier than shop specimens. My ones have bright orange colour with black on the tail rather than the ones in shops I see are dull orange with no black, they sure do brighten up.
