Mini's that is!!!

Here is bit of history. Bought the whole thing at a garage sale for $80. It is a 20" Sunpod. So 150w Metal Halide light with white and blues!

I just got around to setting it up back in November and it was kinda plain.

Stuck in 1 piece of cured live rock and admired the sponges and things growing on it!

Then got a hold of a par meter and took some readings just for the fun of it.

Grabbed a pic of this arm!!!

Bought my lil sexies!!

Added Sparky

Found my first nem! But...the rock it was had hydroids so I went to chisel that off and broke the rock, which split about a 1/4off the big nem. Literally ripped it off. I thought the thing was a gonner, but put it in my tank anyway and it has thrived.

Then I found a blue mini carpet.

And just yesterday brought home a purple mini carpet. You can see my sexies are finding it already in this pic...lol. I haven't been able to all 6 of my sexies. I think Sparky at the smallest one!

And then a full side shot of my carpet nems. My hope is to fill this tank with carpet nems on the rocks and have some zoa's somewhere... Had the zoa's in my 40b, but I run heavy GFO since I'm overfeeding my clowns to induce breeding and have found that the water is too clean for the zoa's to thrive.

Hi, I've seen minis for a while now. What made you decide on them?

I've got a tone of zoanthids.

South Dakota? How's the weather holding up?

well, I decided on mini's because I wanted sexy shrimp and the shrimps live on them. Plus the mini's stay small (compared to the other types) and they are colorful. My remaining fish addition will be a blue spotted jawfish from Diver's Den when I feel I'm ready to add it.

We have been overly warm for most of the winter so far. So warm it was just getting weird. Just got our first big snowfall of the season Friday. Ended up being 5". Freezing rain is coming in tomorrow and I guess a few more chances of snow later in the week. We need moisture and I'm not complaining. The kids are excited to go sledding! (plus it wears them out too...hehe)

There is a blue-spotted jawfish sitting in my LFS right now. He's very lovely. I was terribly tempted, but I'm happy with ma pearly pair! :D

I grew up in the Pacific Northwest. I miss snow sometimes. :)

added a little Tail Spot Blenny (from Diver's Den) yesterday. This picture is from earlier today before the lights were on. He's still a bit skittish. He will stay in here for several months and then I might move him to my 40g tank.

How did you find Diver's Den? I'm considering some future purchases with them. Nice little blenny.

I found them from other local fish people. Great place to buy fish from! Plus, they make sure they are eating and treat them for disease as necessary before selling them.
