112 Gallon Stocking Help

14" ! That one will be a no then ! lol 10" is my maximum , I really do like the EBJD Such a beautiful and gracefull looking fish but then the firemouths are truely beautiful in there own way . Half way thro water change etc so should have pics up of sev's in tank in about an hour or so lol . Think i'm going to have to do some serious consideration on which fish i keep i COULD sell the breedin pair and keep one of there fry back that are in breedin tank , That way i still get to keep my one with the possibility of that one pairing up ...hmmm decision decision lol If i did remove breeding pair with the thought of keepin one of the fry would that open my stockin options up more ? xx

I think a EBJD would work great. Firemouths are nice but i would go for one of the rarer Thorichthys something like Thorichthys aureus would be perfect.
Do you mean keeping the 1 sev thats not paired plus one of the fry or just the 1 fry? If you mean 1 then that would open it up alot and if you mean 2 i think that would open up the options to maybe 2-3 more medium size cichlids or a group of something like Geophagus.

Yeah just keepin to lone female and 1 of the fry .It's the biggest outta the bunch and already comes to the glass whenever i go past tank or to feed them lol only 6 weeks old ! lol i really like the look of G. brasiliensis and the G. sp. "Tapajos Orange Head" .Also a salvini? but need to have a wee read up on them ! Need to get it set in concrete so i can stop lookin at other fish ! lol typical that the more i look the more i like ! lol and i really don't wanna sell my tv to get a bigger tank ! lol

I think you could get away with
2 Severums
4 Geophagus (1 male, 2 females, i think the tapajos are a bit calmer and smaller than the brasiliensis so they might work better)
1 JD

If you keep an eye on it i think it would be fine because none of the fish are really that aggressive or big.
Ive never kept salvinis but from what ive read they can be quite aggressive but then like with all cichlids some can be peaceful as anything but others will have a go at anything.

would i get a shoal of congo tetra's in there too ? Either one large shoal or 2 small shoals with something else

Thanks Very much for all your help you's have been great !

Yeah congos should be fine. I think 1 big shoal looks alot better than 2 smaller shoals but its up to you which you go for.

FTS show you in comparison how big the sev's are in the tank :D

Your sevs are a reasonable age, and do not look like they are going to top out at a huge size. Looking at the pics of your tank, I would say you could get away with a JD and a shoal of congo tetras with your sevs.
The only potential problem I see would really be whether the sevs would accept the JD as a newcomer in their territory. It's always a bit touch and go with any cichlids.

congo's would look ace in that tank and in terms of adding other cichlids u can look at things like thorickthys ellioti (nicest fish in that family) why not add a fancy plec like an L18 Gold nugget i have one in the my 3ft tank and its stands out like a sore thumb a JD might work but in terms of aggression as it gets bigger might be an issue whereas a EBJD is a nice alternative dont get as big and arent as aggressive mines a little softy and he is in with a rotkeil severum and they are best of friends :)

Ok ..Still sittin here changing my mind .I've now considered just keepin my lone female .There's no need for me to keep the fry or to try and end up wtih another breeding pair .
I know I definatly want :
Lone Female Sev
An EBJD
20 or so Congo Tetra

The fish i would like to add give or take stocking level's/Aggression issues are :
Firemouth(Can i keep this alone?)
Ellioti (Perhaps a small group?)

I would also like something for the bottom of the tank ,Nothing that's going to grow huge or hide all the time again perhaps a small group of them ? Anyone offer any thoughts on this ? lol Perhaps something a bit diffrent looking ?

Thanks in Advance

THese will probably socially interact almost as if they were the same species. May even spawn with each other. I would advise getting EITHER firemouths or ellioti.

BTW, one firemouth (or ellioti) on it's own will be just fine.
