110L Stocking.... Colour Is Essential!

Evening all,

I'm keen to get a stock list made up for when my 110L tank is ready for fish...

All I know is that I'm after colour and lots of it.

I'm keen on getting around 6 Cardinal Tetras, 6 Harlequins, a Plec and then I'm unsure of where to go from there...

I'd like one or two BRIGHT centre fish. I really love the Green Terror and Rainbow Chichilds, but my water is a rock steady 7.2pH and I don't think they'd survive in that high a pH?...

How many fish can I stock in my tank, I know the size of the fish has a lot to do with it, but roughly???......

I know the GT would eat everything in the tank, still a beautiful fish though.....

What would you go for then?

your tank is too small for an adult green terror! Numbers of fish depends on the species you want! A firemouth or an acara might work as a centrepiece fish, put alongside some x-ray tetras and some black neons will look nice!

German Blue Rams are beautiful too... I think 7.2pH is again a bit too high for these.

The Firemouths are gorgeous, I recall my father having one when I was a small child. Lived for years it did!

The Acaras are lovely too. Would the aforementioned fish be best kept in pairs on are they okay on their own?

Rams would be no good in 7.2 and need a higher temperature than most other fish! firemouths and acaras are fine on their own but I would say you may get away with two of either species if you keep up on the maintenance and have good filtration!

I like these too, think I prefer the Red Dwarf Gourami though...

Could I keep a couple of these along with a single/2 Firemouths?

What Plec would be best for the tank, has to be a fairly small one.

Congo Tetras are definitely on the list now...

I recommend you either pick a cichlid only tank or a community tank/dwarf cichids but not both.
If you want a nice pleco, look at the L260 Queen Arabesque Pleco.

Have you not considered some Corydoras of some sort?

I'll be going down the community tank route... Chichilds can wait 'til the new year

That L260 plec is stunning, found them for £15 online. That shall be my chosen Plec! Thank you...

I may get some Corydoras, quite like the Panda Cories.

what about a beta most colourful fish out there but has some compatibilty issues with other colourful fish

The misses loves the Bettas but I'm not sure how it would get on in a community tank with other brightly coloured yet peaceful fish?...

1 L260 Queen Arabesque Pleco

Does the above look acceptable for a 110L tank?
