Hey guys. Just wanted to post my tank information and i would like to know if im overstocked and any tips or suggestions are very welcome.

My tank is a Juwel Rekord 800 (25 UK gallon). Came with internal filter (which i am going to change for a cannister)

My water stats are as follows

Amm = 0
NitrItes= 0
NitrAtes = 22
GH 6-7
PH 7.4- 7.6
Temp 27 celsius

I perform weekly 20% water changes

My tank inhabitants are as follows

12 x Neon tetra
10 x Glowlight tetra
3 x clown loach (I know how big they grow and will rehome when needed)
2 x Bolivian Ram 1 x male and female (pair)
3 x Silver shark (Again will rehome when needed)
1 x dwarf plec
I x Betta fish

Tank is planted
Amazing big circular piece of bogwood (tannons have turned the water a brilliant amazonion tea colour)
Gravel substrate
5 x flat pebbles
1 x Cave
1 x airstone
Quite a few good hiding spots

Im happy to report that ALL fish seem very happy and leave each other well alone (on occasion betta genlty chases bolivian ram but never nipping)

I was concerned about tetra and betta but both species have never bothered each other
Clown loaches seem to love spending alot of time with the 2 bolivian rams
Silver sharks also stay together and seem very content
Glowlight tetra shoal together, usually next to neon shoal (which looks nice)

I plan to remove my dwarf plec soon as im aware of the waste they produce

Am I overstocked? (Bearing in mind i realise about rehoming loach and silvers when they get a little bigger)

Can anyone spot any problems with this setup?

Also any tips or general advice is as always very welcome....

ty in advance

oh..and i feed them flake, pellets, frozen brineshrimp/bloodworm and algae pellets

Even assuming that your silver sharks and clown loaches are still very small, i would say that you are a bit overstocked.

Problems i foresee are: #1 I think there's a good possibility that your betta is going to get picked on if not by the tetra, definitely by the silver sharks (if not now, as they get older, and possibly before they outgrow the tank).

#2 German Rams are pretty sensitive to water conditions. Your stats look good now, but w/that many fish it may be difficult to keep it that way.

I think the sooner you move those silver sharks the better, and personally, i wouldn't risk having my betta in that community. Things can go bad overnight. I think when you remove the fish you say you are going to remove, (and i'd add the betta to the list), you'll have a great little community.

He has bolivian rams which are a little more forgiving than blue rams ie. are more tolerable of nitrates. Plus he said it was planted, so they will help keep nitrates in check between water changes.

I would lower the temperature to 25.5-26C. Neons and glowlights prefer slightly cooler temperature, while some of your other fish prefer slightly warmer.

ty for the advice...

My silver sharks are only about 7 weeks old but i will rehome them very soon (friends 300 litre tank)

Clown loach i will move in roughly 2 months (as they are still nice and small)

My only question is my betta?

The thing is..thats the one fish ive been worrying the least about. Im very attentive to my little fishies and have never noticed any problems regarding my tetra nipping or anything else for that matter.

Id say my betta looks the happiest out of all the fish but i will take your advise and ill monitor things very closely and will remove at first sign of trouble

temp has been reduced to 26 c

ty again.. :good:

Any further comments/advice are very welcome

Ooops, Bolivian Rams. I think i have German Rams on the brain 'cause i've been thinking about getting a pair.

Well, if your betta is happy, then i'd do exactly that and just monitor the situation. I tend to err on the side of caution because i don't have the luck that some people seem to have when it comes to fish. I hope everything continues to go well for you.
