Hi good People of the Forum :D

Come the Autumn I plan to install a new kitchen in our flat, aswell as the kitchen I want to put in a bar
I know it may be a bit of a cliché. But im looking for something quite unique, but not too pricey ( dreaming again!)

Maybe a series of cascading tanks, or something along the lines if a bi-orb, tube etc, so if anyones got some ideas or pictures they would like to share.
that would be great
I'll charge up the camera/scanner in a bit so you can get a better idea of the space we have.

Its going to house my rainbows, gouramis and flying fox, so i can fill my 400L with an Oscar, BGKF and some redtail barbs ;)

Cheers all, appreciate any input

Sam.

is 400 biganuf for bgkf ? i thought they got to 30 cm

sound like a plan then i sugest a corner tank ...most on the forum dont like em ... but i think them would look great in the corner of a kitchen

Yeah internet info suggest 400L is fine :)

Well I took the plunge and purchased a clear-seal 4ft'er to eventually be installed in a bar area as it was fairly cheap really
Im going to set it up soon though, as I just bought an Oscar to go in 400, so all those rainbows, gouramis etc can exit the 400L and go into a nice 120L.

for a BKG you will need the length as they can grow to 50cm. and rainbows wont appreciate a round tank. it must be longer than taller

The 398L is 1.5m in length, and the new 120L kitchen/bar tank wich will eventaully house all the rainbows is 1.2m in length and 400mm high.
Had a look at corner tanks, not overly keen tbh. One day I would like to build an Acrylic tube'esque tank and fill it with something suitable, god knows
what though?

with those dimensions your tank will be 20 cm wide and only suitable for fish of about 10cm long

You cannot put a BGKF in a 120L tank, he needs to stay in the 400L, you could get lucky and the Oscar wont bother him when he gets older.

Also what rainbows are we talking about here, as a 120L isnt big enough for the larger species of those either.

I dont plan to put the BGKF in the 120L tank at all. The 120L tank is 2 feet wide, 4 foot long and 15 inches high(134L according to the paperwork, now i have looked). Boesemani rainbows 3 male and 3 female btw

well your calculations are out then

120cm*60cm*37.5c

1000 =270 litres :rolleyes:

Hi Underwurlde, i Live about 40 miles away from Bournemouth, although i do travel down that way in the summer to visit Family & new forest etc.
Have not been clubbing in years though!

Truck, where did you see that BGK's get to 50cm?
I understood most max at around 12" (30cm), not saying your wrong, just curious =) as I'm patiently awaiting the day we get a larger tank and I can have BGK's

ive seen various members on here state that. i would say 30-40cm normally the biggest ive seen being 35cm

Ok so here is the position of the new tank on a very sturdy table i used to keep my turntables/mixer on.
Gutted there is 7mm of the tank overhanging each end of the table:(
But i love the view you get through one tank into another.

Quick question> is the 7mm over hang anything to worry about or should I go out and get some marine ply to go all the way across the table?
