100l (ish) Aquarium Install In Our New Kitchen/bar

Yep, I would go along with that too. Also need some kind of thin foam between tank bottom & wood as per the norm.

Quick question> is the 7mm over hang anything to worry about or should I go out and get some marine ply to go all the way across the table?
yes it is, get a peice of ply wood to put over the top that is the right length and width i would say 10mm ply

Thats the plan then thanks, my local DIY has 9mm stuff cheap and I have some rubberised paint in black I can seal the edges of the ply with :)

yep also got some Warmaline (polystyrene sheet on a roll) from B&Q yesterday to go underneath the tank..

Its funny how things work out in the end :D I had planned to build a partition wall between the living room and the kitchen
and now someone has put a ruddy great fish tank in the way..oh well guess i will have to build it into the partition wall now  :D

Alright everybody :)

Things have been going well, test filled the tank wich held fine along with the table! :D
Plan is later tonight to swap over some of the fish from my 400L with some of that water plus some fresh and bring along the filter too.

Substrate now in :)

Ok all swapped and seemingly happy fish :) slightly cloudy water though! Will have a shop around later for some small LED lights maybe for the tank
We dont use that night storage heater that the tank is sat near btw.

Not a great pic, but you get the idea.

Time to clean my other tank (400L white based tank in the background) tonight ready for Oscar (in Q) and some redtail tinfoil barbs (not bought yet). BGKF is staying well hidden inbetween a plant at the moment.

Update time :D

New section of kitchen installed, time soon to dismantle the old brown kitchen on the right,
still saving hard for the new oven/hob/sink&taps and worktops :X

I feel that the kitchen unit legs were deemed not strong enough to hold the tank properley
so the tank will stay where it is, and I may build a party/partition wall including the tank in the wall :D
as a proper room divider!

Tank is doing well, Unfortunately though lost 1 gourami and 1 paltty recently, but all other residents doing well :)
and had to replace the in tank heater after the last one broke up and got water inside, as the red light started flickering
I knew something was wrong, luckily the tank temp. didnt drop too far before i could get another heater in there!

Well bit of an update time!

New kitchen fully installed now with a new smaller tank (The QT) underneath the breakfast bar :D
