Hi all just set up my new cory hatching tank ive did originally have a 25 watt mini elite heater what couldnt get the temperature above 22 degrees its struggled badly so i went to the lfs and the smallest ones they had were 100 watt, and i bought it, it took the temperature straight upto 26/27 ideal temp and maintained it for the time been ive now lowered the thermostat to 24 as to keep a temperature around 24/25 degrees.
Am i right in thinking that the heater will be fine and just do its job more effieciently or is this too high rated for the tank volume, i would of thought the whole reason for a thermostat is too hold it at the specified temp no matter the wattage.
Oh and just to add the tank is in a cold area and only a couple of inchs from ground level so the extra wattage should help keep the chill off.
Has anyone else done something similar and did it work out for them.
