Hello,

I have provided links to my aquarium videos. I have an Electric Blue Jack Dempsey, a Parrotfish, and an Oscar in a 100 gallon tank. Check out my youtube videos and let me know what you think. My youtube username is GoldfishRsoDelicious and I have provided the links below.

why not?... i mean in nature it would happen and were trying to recreate that in our tanks?

Maybe because in nature the feeder fish is not trapped into a 100G tank and has every chance to escape.

Predators in nature do not catch pray as often as you drop it in your home version of "nature"

were trying to recreate nature visually and via water chemistry, it's like (and i'm not being racist) getting 100 people in the UK that have come from poorer countries and giving them malaria, because thats thats what could happen if they still lived in the previous country. in my opinion, whats the point in wasting a poor animals life when it's not necessary to kill it anyway

Absolutely :good: :good:

I'm afraid i don't agree with feeder fish at all

It wouldn't necessarily be the case. The two fish may or may not be in the same location as one another. Yes, we are trying to recreate nature in our tanks, but buying "feeder fish" can in itself cause problems. Besides, there isn't much nutritional value in fish compared to some of the fish foods available to buy.

I cannot see the fish you have for some reason the links aren't showing.

Pointless, An oscar wouldn't eat a goldfish in the wild, goldfish are mainly built up of fatty tissue which will lead the oscar to get a thiamese deficiency and weaken its immune system over time

That's just gross. :grr:

But then it's your first post so you are probably trying to impress us all with the macho method of fish-keeping.

In nature those fish aren't kept in pet stores for months in a tiny tank with hundreds upon hundreds of them getting parasites and bacterial infections also. Feeder fish are just not a good idea. Bad nutrition and a chance to get your fish sick for feeding it to them.

i dont have fish which eat other fish. and i would find it harsh to feed a fish to it... i was just wandering why people thought it was so bad ;p

I'm not at all against it. As long as said fish are given proper nutrients along with the feeder fish, and the fish you feed the big fish too are bred yourself, so you know they're not disease ridden. Like convict cichlid fry or livebearer fry. both are easy to obtain, all you need is a 20 gallon long tank and some breeding fishes.

I understand that we humans breed animals in order to kill them and eat them, but this is not what happens in nature when there is no human intervention..

I mean, what is this video about? Goldfish on holidays to the tropics killed by the local mafia boss?

Maybe if we get a video of the tank outside feeding time, so some of us with different beliefs can appriciate the tank :D

to be honest i think its quite interesting seeing a fish hunt down a smaller one, i know its cruel to the smaller one... but it's watching the chase of survival.. you dont get that with all fish / we don't see it often in the aquarium. interesting to watch

People breed convict and livebearers all the time for treats for large fish. It's better than convicts breeding so much that you just get sick of it and siphon them into the toilet. Or just let the filter suck them up and not attempt to rear the fry. Let's face it, they breed so much, there's not really anything you can do with the fry after a few months. Let them feed a bigger fish rather than feed the toilet or the filter intake. And it's better for your big fish than feeding them disease riddn malnourished feeder goldfish from the petstore.
