Ok I just got a early Christmas present, a new 10 Gallon, with undergravel filter, 10 gallon wet/dry filter, hood and lights, and a heater. My quetion is what is the largest solitary fish (as in one fish alone) that can be put in the tank for future reference!? Thank you. I know i post so many topics that confuse some of you but I still would like to know. Thanks agian.

just curious, but why is it that you only want one fish? i've always found community tanks are pretty interesting, you get a lot of variety.

I can understand why he only wants one fish...you can't really explain so it won't make much sense to you....but I understand why he would only want one.

I like the fact that there's one "person" that i can look after, one that will look back, one that will think why am "I" all alone along with me, one I can talk to with out quetions and answers. I like the thought lol...

i feel that it could be explainable. and i'm just curious about it, that's all. most people want to have as many fish as possible, and then they only end up overstocking their tanks!

One ram? I think you can keep one in a ten gallon, pretty sure.

A single ram, apisto, or krib would work, but you don't really get the full personality of any of these fish without pairing them. If I understand correctly, you're looking for something like a "mini-oscar" for a 10g. I can't really think of one. Maybe someone will be along who does. Sorry. :dunno:

One male three-spot gourami :p Opalines are the prettiest IMO. I'm pretty shure this isn't quite what you were looking for but if you've ever kept a betta you'll know they are cute little characters and opaline gourami males are pretty much the same only much larger and IMO a little more interesting and obviously less common.

A betta would be good. It's be a nice tank for it, though you probably want something a bit bigger. However, if it were an expensive fin type, you'd probably treasure it more. :p

I really can't see a three-spot enjoying life in a 10 gal, sorry.

A gorgeus male betta would be a good choice, methinks. It may not be such a big fish (about 2.5 in), but it's certainly got personality. ;)
