10 gallon wild betta tank journal

Sorry to hear that! I believe many of the wild Bettas are seasonably available. So don't give up too easily--you might find one yet.

So I have gotten the new tank and set it up, and hopefully if all goes according to plan I will be able to get some more Betta Smaragdinas!

Looks great! Any betta will love that tank ;)

I wouldn't discount the idea of some of the smaller Bettas should you see them. I like smaragdina, but they're from a big family with a lot of very intriguing little fish in it. I suspect you're like me in that where you live doesn't exactly have a sizzling aquarium scene, but you're awfully close to the Netherlands and they have astonishing fish in their aquarium culture.

I've had to learn to pay shipping to get what I want. It is a limiting factor, but while I don't know EU costs, the aquarist in me would love to live within that group of nations.

I didn't do well with the tiny wine red Betta group, but one of my favorites was a not very colourful but really nice Betta picta group.

I love all betta species, I find them so fascinating, but I dont have many around that I could get, and im afraid I am simply too broke to get any from the Netherlands 😭. One day i will have my own house and like 500000 fishtanks and I'll finally have some more Betta species

Anyway I put in some Strawberry rasboras into the new tank and they are such cuties. They school together with the last 3 ember tetras I have left and they look so cool with the scape. Here are some more photos of the tank, it's slowly growing in, and I realised that I do not require a filter with it (which is a miracle because the only one i have left is tiny)

I have strawberries in a 10 gallon too. They love to play in the bubbles generated by an air stone.

I have rescaped my old 10 gallon tank because it was in really bad shape, and I set up a somewhat biotope-esque blackwater tank that will hopefully have some Betta Smaragdina in it after the holidays. As of right now I threw in a bunch of plants that I had lying around and dried oak and beech leaves and alder cones for botanicals. It is cycled already and houses a bold lone golden wonder killifish that likes killing everything it can, but i will get rid of him in order to get the Betta and some microrasboras and danios also.

Gorgeous scaping. And your water is so clear- I found that after adding oak leaves to my tank my water got so dark it was basically semi-opaque from the tannins!

Thank you, yeah I myself am not sure how my water is so clear, there is no filter and I only did a water change for the first time yesterday!
