i had some problems with my 10 gallon tank and i have tryed but failed. when emptyed the 10 gallon I found out there was alot of dirt under the gravel wow...

Anyway i want to start over and I need some advice. The tank is empty. and cleaned.

I am going to make room for about 3 or 4 swordtails and I was thinking of adding about 4 guppies also. (note the 4 swordtails are only babies.)
and maybe a few female guppies due to me wanting to breed another kind of fish.

Is this a good stock?

What are the dimensions? I dont know much about swordtails but i know they are very similar to platies and i know both platies and guppies like to swim around alot and are very active. I think you could make the 10G work but if you want to breed guppies i think your going to quickly find yourself overwhelmed. Guppies breed like... guppies lol not much more that breeds more lol.

Good luck though. :good:

Just one question when the swordtails grow to adult hood can I still have three swordtails with about 3 or 4 guppies?
in the 10 gallon?

I think once they all grow out to full size you might technically be beyond the "beginner guideline" of one inch of fish body per one US gallon, but probably not by much. The issue could grow if you plan to leave the offspring of these livebearers in and very many of them "make it." An important consideration would be whether your filter turns out to be a bit too small or a bit larger than initially needed. A good filter with good media volume will allow you to easily go beyond the simplistic guideline I've noted above. I'm not terribly familiar with the various 10g filters out there these days so probably can't advise specifically.
