its a 10 gallon tank and fully cycled with a under gravel filter. So, it would be ready to put fish in right now if i wanted.

I have had the betta since summer, and he was purchased from a 10 gallon tank with a bunch of corys at petsmart. So, I know he'll be okay with the corys. And i know the shrimp may be eaten

and what do corys eat? regular fish flakes?

For cories, most people recommend algae wafers and sinking wafers. But with a betta in the tank I think you will be better off with a sinking pellet. That way when it lands on the substrate it will be difficult for the betta to get but no problem for the cories.

Just a tip for UG filters, it would do you well to stick a bit of airline tubing down the riser tube every few cleanings and siphon out all the gunk that accumulates unter the filter plate.

Ok, and should i get more corys? in your sig you have 7 corys in 10 gallon. do they like the big groups?

Those are pygmys. They prefer bigger groups. But in all honesty you should be good with 5 provided you stick with a smaller (but not pygmy or dwarf) variety of cory.

Today I put the betta and 2 Juli corys in. I think they all love their new home!
