Hi i have had a 5 gal tank and was thinking of getting a 10 gal but i need help on figuring the price of everything i need and weres the cheapest stuff.

Hi, welcome to the forum.

Are you looking for a new tank or is used/second hand a possibility?

Are you in the US or UK?
What is in your 5 gallon and are you planning to move it to your new 10 gallon?
Does the 5 gallon have a heater and filter? If so what are the make and model and wattage.
If you want the complete set up, call a couple of fish stores or big pet stores and see what deals they have. They can give you a price over the phone.

I am in the US and Im trying to switch a 5 gal to a 10 i have a heater that is 75 watts and the filter i can honestly tell you i dont no I have had it for so long.

You can find 10 gallon tanks at like $12. Then you have to buy a heater and a filter and possibly a lid depending what it comes with.
I would definitely recommend getting a 10 gallon tank because not only does it look nicer, but you can fit up to 10 fish in it.

sorry but you need to disregard what this person says - - you can not fit ten fish into a 10 gallon tank. the 1" per gallon rule is a complete myth for 99% of the fish out there - - it is a way for pet stores to take advantage of people and trick people out of their money.

Before you stock, let us help you. The biggest mistake you can make as a new fish keeper is to buy a fish on impulse with out doing research before hand to learn about its tank size requirements, if it is a shoaling fish, if it is territorial, adult size, if it has any special water parameter or dietary needs etc etc.

Hence, forums. We do not make money off you and give up our free time to help you and your fish - we enjoy helping you join the hobby with as little stress and mistakes as possible :good:
