Neolamprologus multifasciatus, an African Shelldweller is the only cichlid suitable for a 10 gallon IMO. They are however an extremely interesting fish. They may be small but it's difficult to find a fish with more entertaining behavior than a colony of shellies. I highly recommend them!
Well thanks for all the replies. We do not have shell dwellers here at all. We have your regular african and new world cichlids. So I think I am just going to go the way of tetras for that interesting tank. I always said that I would love to do a tank of neon's and have never done it. So maybe this is the time since all our cichlids here are for bigger tanks.
i went to maiden head aquatics in the UK/wales, the other day looking for kribensis, and they only had 1 tank of kribs, when they usually have atleast 3-4 tanks, but the other 2 tansk that are usually the occupants of kribs were, lots and lots of shell dwellers, i was amazed.
they never usually have shell dwellers, i went back yesterday to check if there was a 10gallon for sale but there wasn't and i went round the corner to have alook at the shelldwellers, and the man said that they were all sold.
over 20 SD'S and they were sold in 2-4 days
