As you probably know I ordered a light fixture and the bulbs came in broken. The company sent me some new bulbs. Instead of getting 6700k, I got 10,000k. Are these bulbs good for growing plants. Right know I have 1 java fern, 1 corkscrew val, and 1 Cryptocoryne. Later this week I am going to add 1 Amazon Sword, 3 Dwarf Hairgrass, and about 6 more Corkscrew Val to my 55 gallon tank. Will the 130W 10,000k lighting be fine for me. Just a side note, I do not have any fish.

yes, 5500k - 11 000k

You might want to consider adding co2 if you dont already otherwise you will be getting a lot of algae.

A couple snails hitchhiked on my plants. They are a really good cleaning crew. I also have a Mag-Float. The Mag-Float obliterates algae.

What is the spectrum of the light? People get to hung up on the k rating an ignored the spectrum which is gar, far more important. you want decent spikes in the blue, red and green wavelengths.

I thought green was the worst color for plants? Plants reflect the color green (hence why they are green) so they wouldn't be absorbing much of it.

What about red plants?

This is what you are after.
