The tank I've just got is 25l - 7 gallons. Normally I wouldn't keep 2 bettas devided in this small a tank, but the dimentions are 24 x 8 x 8 - so it's very long. I'm wondering if it's sufficiant space for 2 bettas, or if I should just go with one.

Note: It'll be planted

I would go for one and try tank mates if it were me. (I noticed you have a second tank) you can 'borrow' some tankmates from that tank, pop them in the 7gal short term. Then introduce the male and see how things go. If he seems tolerent then I would keep just one with a selection of the following...shrimp, snails, corys, adf etc

If the male was adamant that he wouldn't put up with tank mates then if it were me I'd probably still keep him alone (as I personally don't think anything below 5gal is 'fair' to the fish).

But it would be big enough 'technically' to keep two males if separated as it is quite long.

Its adequate. 3.5 gallons each. :)

I just did it on tank calculator and it came up as 6.65Us Gallons & 5.54Uk Gallons, so i'd just go with one betta if i were you :good: I wouldnt give a single betta any less than 3G

Oops.. i thought it was 7 uk gallons, if it comes up to 5gallons (uk) then no, its only enough for 1 male betta.

Okey-dokey - just realised it was under 7 gal

I think I'll try out some female endlers (not fully grown) - they've been with my other betta and they were ok.

May start breeding them again :)

Thanks to everyone who contributed :good:

Hi,
I'd keep the tank as a whole one (mostly because I don't like the looks of a divided tank. . .). Also, you can always add other fish with the betta. One idea is to put a female betta in instead! Mine doesn't seem as "fussy" as my male bettas.
