We have a tank at work, and god only knows how all the fish have lived so long. its about 60litre (I guess, mines 100l, and its considerably smaller than mine). It gets a 100% water change about once a month, and must have about 40 fish in it. I keep asking for the other staff to let me take charge of it, but as I'm only night staff, nobody seems to take any notice of me!
Anyway, a couple of weeks ago, a certain member of staff went out and bought 8 neons, and 2 gouramis (I don't know much about gouramis, so couldn't tell u what sort), not only for an already overstocked tank, but from a place that is well known for keeping its fish in poor conditions. The newcomers introduced white spot into the tank, within days, which was treated successfully. However, one of the gouramis died very soon after.
The remaining gourami seems very shy, it spends most of its time hiding behind the filter. The other fish are all guppies, (the resaon for the overstocking), neons, and a single loach.
I'm just wondering if I would be doing this fish a favour if I brought him home to mytank, and bought him a friend. I have guppies, white clouds, cories, and pakistani (ithink) loaches, so I don't even know if they would be compatible? I have 15adult fish, and a few to many guppy fry than I'd like, but am in the middle of setting up a 70litre to accommodate the guppies.
What do people think?
