My tap water is just horrible. My nitrates are at 20-30 ppm. What good are WC's if I add more than I remove. I have a 20 gallon tank. I do a 25% water change every week. The nitrates in the tank are around 40 ppm. I think the only thing keeping it down are Purigen and Prime.

I have an Angelfish pair. They are both Pearl-scaled Gold Marbled Angels. I don't know what they are worth and I'm considering selling them to a breeder as they would have more use for my angels. The one on the left is the male and the one on the right is the female.

what are the pros and cons of lowering pH when keeping Angelfish? Driftwood doesn't seem to work for me. Can someone please explain "buffering"?

The pH of my tap water has always been 8.4. I've called the local water supplier and they say pH ranges from 8-8.8 in my area. I tested it myself and got 8.4 and went to PetsMart and got 8.4. I want to know to lower pH without harming fish or using those crappy "Proper pH 7.0" or "pH down"...
