Guppies Have Brown Threads Emerging From Their Underbellies.

I honestly dont know! I have never noticed it before today. It's a possibility I have also thought of, as the fish dont seem to be under any kind of stress and are eating fine. It's baffling! I'll just have to keep a close eye upon them I think.

Guppies Have Brown Threads Emerging From Their Underbellies.

Two of my three guppies have long brown threads emerging from their bellies. One of the guppies thread is about 1 1/2 inches long. Does anyone know what this is, or why it is caused?

What Low Light Plants Will Root Directly Into The Substrate?

As the title pretty much explains, i'm after plants which i can plant directly into the substrate, as currently I have crypts, anubis, java fern and bolbitus in my tank, and only the crypts can be buried in, the rest are ideally mounted on something, i.e bogwood. Any suggestions are welcome...

    How To Correctly Plant Plants?

I only have 1 bit of bog wood in a 2 foot tank..... I can't mount all of them, anubis, bolbitus and fern on the log! :/ Seems I picked poorly in my plant/ landscape choice. What low light plants can I put directly into the substrate? I'll pull them up now and allow them to float for a day, until...

    How To Correctly Plant Plants?

Will they not root into the substrate if they are weighted down onto it?

    How To Correctly Plant Plants?

So yesterday I went and bought some plants for my fishes, I'm going low tech, so bought 2 x crypts, 2 x anubis, 1 x java fern and 1 x bolbitus. I know some plants are not suppose to have certain bits buried, so I just want to check I've done this correctly. Crypts, java fern and bolbitus, bury...

    Ammolock Or Not?

I have just rescaped my tank, and I used florabase as part of the substrate. It is known to leach ammonia, but I don't know at what level, I don't know if my filter can handle it or not. The fella in the shop gave me a bottle of ammo lock for free when I bought the florabase, and i'm unsure...

    Is Any Old Sand Ok?

So I've decided I'm going to sand some of my tank, and I know everyone says Argos play sand is good/cheap. But Argos is a fair way away from me and a 15kg bag of sand will possibly be hard to fit in my backpack to get on my motorbike. So I was wondering, as I live 2 minutes walk away from a...

Thank you. It sounds like it after having a little read. One thing that it hasn't mentioned is is it contagious?

Guppy Is Going Down Hill. Help Please!

Unfortunatly, in the time it took me to do the tests and post on here he died. His belly was very swollen, and upon removing him from the tank I could see that the red was blood. I really hope this doesn't affect my other fish. Yes, they were hard to see, but they were sticking out.

Guppy Is Going Down Hill. Help Please!

I have currently got 4 guppies in my tank, and 1 of them has just taken ill. Can someone try to help me out please, I want to get the little fella back on his feet! First off, water test results. Ammonia 0, Nitrite 0, nitrate 20 - 40 ppm, pH 8.0. Symptoms. First I noticed about 4 hours ago...

Tesco Cat Litter And Panda Corys?

Quite simply, do they mix? Is cat litter a small and smooth enough grain that it won't damage the corys whilst they are digging? I'm slowly coming around to the idea of using cat litter as a substrate instead of a posh proper planting substrate for my immenient rescape. Can anyone post some...

Eco Complete Vs Fluorite Vs Ada Amazonia

I've just stumbled across this post a month after last reply, so sorry for bringing it back up. I'm currently looking for a new substrate to plant in for the first time, (low tech), but also needs to be fine grains so not to upset my panda corys, and have come across all the ones mentioned...

What To Use To Create Small Fish Hides?

I havent ruled out using coconuts totally as of yet, but i'm looking for a smaller alternative. But i just had a thought for if i did use coconuts.... coconuts float, how do i sink it? Same way as we do with bog wood, soak it for days/ weeks until finally it no longer floats?
