thankykou for your advice, it's been 2 days i dont see any sign's of his fins being nipped yet. i watched tv in my room for an hour after i let him go in the tank so i could sit and watch him... and they seem to get along fine. i guess time will tell! thankyou

just checking with you guys to make sure he'll get along with the other fish in the tank.. it's 20 gallons with: ~ 2 albina cory's ~ 4 platy's ~ 5 flame tetra's ~ 2 lemon tetra's what do you all think? i've got him floating in the tank in the bag, and he did the big gills and fin flare up thing...

well.... while betta's can survive in cool water, they would prefer warmer water, 27-28 degrees celsius. so whichever tank has the warmest temp would probably be best. :)

yeah, dont buy the painted/dyed fish.... buy more of the same tetras you already have... when you have a few of the same sort + a few of another sort, they do tend to all school together, but a couple of differnt tetras probably wont. the feeding problem could be them just getting used to the...

well thanx for the advice! i think i will buy a few more lemon tetras... they seem to be schooling with the flame tetras, so i wasnt going to worry, but i guess theres room for a few more, so i might as well get more : )

echo-ing the zebra danio thing. your tank needs about 6 weeks to cycle, and buying any fish that aren't really hardy is a waste of time cuz they'll probably just die on you. zebra danio's are really hardy.. couldn't kill em if u tried kinda fish that you can keep while your tank cycles..... :)...

okies well i have a 30 gallon tank, with.. ~ 5 flame tetras ~ 2 lemon tetras ~ 4 platy's ~ 2 albino cory's elodea & blue stricta, 25 degrees i know lemon tetras are supposed to be easy to get along with, good community fish, but my two keep chasing each other! they dont nip, and dont chase any...

I was told by a fish keeping friend of mine that feeding platies some of the spice Paprika once a week will intensify the red colour in the fish. has anybody ever heard of this before? or tried it?

it isnt set up yet... but the climate here in australia really never gets very cold anyway my golfish tanks are 24 degrees celsius at the moment... and today is a pretty coolish day.

we used to breed mice... and as you could imagine it wasn't very difficult! we set up a mousery and bred them to sell privately as pets! it was a great a little hobby, but that was 4 yrs ago, when i only had the twins and not my youngest daughter! now im way too busy i miss having lots of little...

we have a dog, a rottweiler named Harley my eldest daughter has 2 mice my son has a yabbie B)
