    Guppy Fry Question

The half-black ones colour up much earlier than the other colours.

    Only Female Guppy Babies

Hi all, I don't know if it's coincidence or not, but I seem to only have the occasional male guppy baby survive to adulthood. Almost all babies who survive to adulthood are female. Would there be a reason for this, or simply pure luck? Apart from guppies, the only other things in the tank are...

    Red Cherry Shrimp Tankmates?

I'm actually not too worried about them eating the babies, just as long as they don't eat the Mumma & Pappa shrimps. :) I don't really care for the rasbora's. They are my hubby's fish, and I actually wish he would get another tank for them/find them a new home/they would die. I'm just a guppy...

    Red Cherry Shrimp Tankmates?

Hi all, I was considering getting some red cherry shrimp, and wondered how they would go in a 4' heavily planted tank with guppies & a trio of scissortail rasbora's? Anyone experts on this subject, I'd be interested to know.   -Angela

What Is This Color Of Guppy Officially Called?

Metallic. They are actually quite common in pet stores here in Australia. :)

    Our Tapered Tailed Guppy Fry

I'm not sure exactly how you could think that a fish could change its tail shape because it is stressed. All of these fry are from two different spawnings. Older ones as well as younger ones have normal tail fin shapes. :)

    Guppy Sex Vs Water Conditions/temperature

I've posted some pics of the guppies with the tapering tails in the Livebearers journals & photograph subforum. :)

    Our Tapered Tailed Guppy Fry

These guys are a few weeks old now, and just starting to see some yellowing colour in some of their tails. I do not have any adults with this tail shape, so it's very interesting for me to see them develope a different shaped tail. The younger guppies in the pics you can see have normal...

    Guppy Sex Vs Water Conditions/temperature

Here is a video I took tonight of the guppies. Hopefully you can see their tails (they do blend into the rocks a bit). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FMysWAgHwrA

    Guppy Sex Vs Water Conditions/temperature

Nah - the fry that I am seeing definitely do NOT have the normal tails. Bigger ones do, as do some of the smaller ones with fully clear tails. I will try to take a photo of some of them later - there is more than one with the tapering tails.

    Guppy Sex Vs Water Conditions/temperature

Hi all, I've noticed that all my guppies which have coloured up (around 2+ months of age now) have turned out to be female (Yes!!!). Is what sex they turn into got to do with water quality/temperature at the time of conception? Or is it really, truly a random things, as it is in Humans? Also...

    Life Length Of Guppies?

I'm JUST being able to start being able to see the difference in sexes of my first babies. They were hard, as they are black half blacks, so look the same until the girls start to get that rounded tummy, and boys are starting to look a little longer. They are around 2 months old now.

    Life Length Of Guppies?

That I do know. Luckily, I only have guppies & a few rasboras, and they reside in a 4' Jebo tank, so plenty of room atm. I have a friend who wants some of the bubs, but I told him he has to wait until I've sexed them so I know which ones I want to keep, and which I don't. :)

    Identify Guppies :)

I have one exactly like your first one, and I call him a "yellow lace", as he has clear stripes rather than black ones like a normal snakeskin.
