I have been keeping a close eye on a guppy and just noticed I tiny red line poking out of it. Googling has helped me ID this as camallanus worms but I really need a treatment now! Is it possible to treat the tank as I have snails and shrimp too..
There's a small white-ish poop coming out underneath him. I've had him for 5 months, bought him at my nearest Pets at Home so not sure how old he is. What makes you say he looks old?
Here is a pic of my bloated guppy.

Can anyone tell if this is a parasite coming out of my fish? It looks quite light in colour. Or is he just constipated? It's been there since yesterday evening.
What would be causing some of the dwarf hair grass in my tank to turn yellow? Lack of light? Lack of nutrients? I don't have special lights or dose ferts. I have a few clumps in different places, two of them are starting to turn yellow. All my other plants are thriving.
Yes I am aware of the similarities of young macrobrachium and amano shrimp and that sometimes they are mis sold as Amanos. I'm also aware of their (amano shrimps) generally peaceful reputation but other people's experience seems to suggest that they can be 'aggressive' and attack fish.
There is a newer thread about this in the shrimp section. Amanos can get aggressive!

Ok, well I was given some algae pellets and wafers with my shrimp so I'm sure if they want they can eat that. Some of the guppies seem to like that! I'm going to treat the inverts to organic cucumber too so we will see.
I started with one and I very quickly got more. They are easy to spot as they have to go up to the surface to take in air every now and then. Just keep an eye out for their eggs which are little white dots in jelly on your plants/filter/glass/anywhere and remove them, plus don't over feed and...
Hi Maikash
Welcome! I'm new here too and so glad I found this site before I went to the LFS, they still give the same terrible advice out :/. Thanks to TFF I now have a cycled, non toxic tank with happy guppies, shrimp, snails and plants and also importantly my kid is happy (they were a...
Just wondering if my snails will be okay scavenging in my 10gal tank withe guppies or should I be feeding them algae wafers or something? I have 1 zebra, 1 tracked and 2 little horned. Also bladder snails which gatecrashed and are eating my plants.
Ta daaa! I'm really pleased with it as a first attempt. Just need to keep the plants alive now. Lots of places for future shrimp to hide. Can't wait to get them in!
