Well, I want to have it in a small tank. 10 gallon would be the largest I'd go. I'm thinking a 5 gallon though. :/  Do I need to cycle the tank before adding my plant life? Sorry, but I am SO new to plants D:

To me it sounds like fungus! I've seen it on a dead fish before at a pet store.  You can try "API Melafix for aquariums". I'm sure it will work. Not 100% sure though, you'll have to take time to look into the medication. my fish never got sick before so I've never used any medication :|  It...

I would just keep it at the way it is. But that's just my opinion.  I know cherries are schooling fish, but I wouldn't put any more than 5 in a 15 gallon if you want another fish. But cherries need the space to zip around. Just keep it the way it is or just upgrade to a 20 or bigger while you...
