What will go with

I am going to check out a different LFS today (no one knows diddly at the LPS I had been going to) to see if they have pygmy corys. I am also looking for ghost shrimp and can't find those. They guy I talked to on the phone said he could order almost anything and that he has very trusted suppliers. He was also very friendly so I am looking forward to going and checking the place out.

I am definitely going to try sand and live plants in this tank. I am so looking foward to getting the 10g going.

Make sure you rinse the sand very good. That could be why your friend's tank was cloudy all the time. THere are pinned topics about this that are great!
Don't feel bad about your lfs... mine told me Pygmy Cories don't exist!

I've been doing some reading about sand, live plants, and wood and I wonder if his water is always murky because of the kind of wood he has. I guess ome kinds release tannins which make the water more like tea. Maybe.

Could be. I don't know much about wood, but I've heard some of it can.
