Hi everyone. Could anyone help me. I have recently setup a CO2 system to my planted tank but I am having problems with black algae clinging to the leaves of my plants. pH fluctuates between 6.65 and 7.0 depending on the time of the day and KH is 4. I have just added 4 shrimps and a couple of cleaning loaches to help. Will this go away as the plants establish or is there anything else I need to do. Any help would be appreciated. Cheers.

sounds like staghorn i have the same problem I was told to over dose excel and keep co2 high but have yet to try it since I've no excel so I cant say if it works or not

Thanks Garuf, I will get some Excel and give it a try. Cheers,

Sounds more like black brush/beard algae - staghorn is usually more grey in colour.

What type of CO2 are you using? Pressurised or DIY/yeast?

Black beard algae (BBA) likes unstable and low CO2 levels.
