Almost all the mollies you see at LFSs are hybrids - there are many wild species and they've all been freely interbred to produce the existing variants - that includes so-called 'normal' mollies and most 'sailfins'. It's prefectly normal to have smaller-growing fish and larger-growing fish. There is absolutely nothing new or unusual about them.
