So my Keyhole has this slight little white edge along the rim (at the top) of his tail fin. He had it when dad bought him for me.
I've never had a fish with fin rot before, but I've been watching it closely looking for any change and wondering if that's what it could be.

None of the other fish shows and signs of this little white edge, and my Keyhole's hasn't changed [i.e. gotten bigger or grown].
But anyway. I wanted to be safe just in case it is fin rot.

I bought a bottle of Melafix under the impression that it might help. So first off, does anyone have any experience with this medication? I'm primarily worried not only for my Keyhole, but also for my Blue Ram. I hear they can be very, very sensitive, and I don' want to cause him any harm.

Lastly, if Melafix is safe enough (in your opinion) the bottle says I should dose three tablespoons a day [or rather 1 per 10 gallons] for 7 days without any water changes? Is that correct? That sounded like an awful lot of medicine for my fish to have to handle.

Any feedback on this at all would be appreciated.

Some fish can be sensitive to melafix.
melafix is only good once fins are healing.
White edging to fins can be a sign of finrot.

How many gallons or litres is the tank.
What are your water stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph.
